My Gatsby Essay

In the book, the Great Gatsby, towards the end of the book, there is a line, "so we beat on boats against the current, borne ceaselessly into the past." In the book the narrator keeps bringing back flash  backs of the main character Gatsby. The flashbacks were mostly about the character's past before the story went very wrong. The flashbacks also involved another important character Gatsby's love Daisy. you can see that in the book Gatsby talks about what happened five years ago in Daisy's household. The moment he had with Daisy, with just love and Daisy, it was to change his life forever and no grudges were hold back. He had said "and I let myself go." Then everything seemed to fall apart after the war. Now everything seemed to be coming back after Gatsby had come back mysteriously. Tom Buchanan now the husband of Daisy. Gatsby will stop at nothing to get his old past love back, but sometimes going back to the past can give a cost, but oh so well The Great Gatsby is what he is, great.

Shall we take it back a bit, like the quote says borne ceaselessly into the past. Let's start towards the beginning when the narrator also a character, Nick Carraway, moved to New York from West Egg, to a house next to one mysterious neighbor. He got invited to a party hosted by that Neighbor and that is where he has met The Great Gatsby. But Nick also go invited to a dinner and met Jordan the great golf player and also met Tom Buchanan and Daisy. Tom received a call from a woman supposedly in New York. As the call ends Daisy keep telling Nick to stay and so much to talk about. See Tom isn't a person you would think to be good, Tom is just as every right to be a bad guy but not as bad a villain. Daisy and Tom relationship isn't that quite of a good one and Daisy along with a child, her daughter. Once Nick returns home from the dinner, he has notice a figure walking on a dock just across the bay with a green light peaking brightly from Daisy' house. Nick keeps the wondering.

Nick has received an inventation from Gatsby himself and it was a party. Nick has now met Gatsby, the both become very close. Gatsby basically gives a biology summary of Gatsby and now Gatsby gives a favor to Nick and also clears up all the assumption about Gatsby that Nick has been told, and a war hero. Jordan helps gives 'the mission' to Nick. Inviting Daisy to tea with Gatsby. Nick wonders on how and why he was given this favor and Jordan gives a summary on what happened to between Gatsby and Daisy. She starts with meeting Gatsby five years ago and how Daisy was popular and seeing Daisy and Gatsby in a car happy and in their own little world. As Jordan goes on, she adds that Gatsby was sent to war and Gatsby somehow could not return to Daisy and that's where Tom comes in to practically steal Daisy. Daisy receives a letter on the Day of Daisy's wedding and broke out in tears and went crazy. No one knew what was in the letter.

Now it is time for tea. Nick invites Daisy to tea without knowing Gatsby would be there. This is the first interaction with Gatsby and Daisy after five years. Once the eyes met of two old lovers, it has like a new flower has bloomed after the other had died away, this moment that had been successful been recreating but new at the same time. With the moment the eyes met you can see that time has stopped. They have both been very glad and well relieved to be to seeing each other again. That moment is a moment only lovers may know, it is something it see only see, feel and not really explain how it goes. Now here comes where everything has been awakening. Nick goes to Gatsby house and Gatsby explains, how it begins. Gatsby says he went to Daisy's house first before the departure of the war. Once Gatsby first saw Daisy he could not believe in his eyes. Gatsby and Daisy kiss. Gatsby knew when he kissed, his life would change forever. He knew his heart would forever be to Daisy.

Now comes to show down of Tom and Gatsby, they both have met. Gatsby seems to be saving Daisy  from Tom. Now Tom is feeling a bit threaten by Gatsby. Tom decides to say something to Gatsby and things did now go pretty well. Then Gatsby and Daisy leave and something not very pleasant happens. A few days later something also terribly happens. Then suddenly everything turned gloomy and dark but not sad. Before Nick returns to his home, he visits Gatsby house one more time. That green light Nick to goes to at the end of the dock, wonders beyond that has everything happened. The last line in the book. That very unique quote, perfect for to be stuck in the past. Whatever happens in the past, we know we cannot take back, or to go back to it. Wether it was good or bad. The past is only the beginning. Only the start.
